A fireplace is just what the name implies – a place or a structure where we build a fire for the purpose of cooking our food or heating our dwelling place. An outdoor fireplace is that same place or structure, only we build it outside our homes. It serves the same purpose of heating and cooking, although modern types are mostly used for cooking food. Picking out the location where you will build it is important in order to protect not only those who will use it but also the occupants of the house. You must inform yourself about the codes and ordinances that apply before you even make the plans for your outdoor fireplace.
The local community where you reside may have some restrictions that govern safety and air quality. The best location is that which is farthest from your home and other buildings that can catch fire. Stray sparks can ignite plants or other nearby structures so make sure that you build it far away to prevent accidental fire from destroying your home.
