Things to Look For When Selecting a Baby Swing

posted on 26 May 2011

Baby swings have always been in demand because it helps the parents pacify a cranky or amuse a bored infant. Similar to other children’s items, it is very important that proper care and attention is given when buying a baby swing as it will not only affect the child’s enjoyment but most importantly his or her safety. Below are some things to look for when selecting a swing for your baby: • Smooth edges – it is important that the swing has no sharp edges and no small parts or protruding hinges as well so as not to injure the child. • Wide base – this is critical because it will prevent the swing from tipping over. • Reclining seat – this is particularly needed for younger babies, look for models that have adjustable seat or those that allow reclining positions. • Washable and removable padding – this will allow for easy cleaning and maintenance. • Activity tray – this will further keep the baby entertained and preoccupied. • Various swinging motions – this will provide you with options just in case your child likes variety.

Cultured pearls

posted on 16 February 2011

It is best to buy cultured pearls from a reputable jeweler who can explain how to balance a number of variables in order to get the best value for money. These variables include – the luster of the pearl which is a combination of the brilliance of the surface and a deep seated glow. You should be able to see your reflection on the surface and any pearl which looks chalky or dull is poor quality. The surface itself should be clean from spots, bumps or cracks. The shape of the pearl is very much dependent on mother nature as it is grown inside a mollusk. Whilst rounder pearls are generally more valuable the nugget or baroque pearls have their own organic, tactile quality and are more moderately priced. Cultured pearls are available in a wide variety of colours both natural and treated and with all these variables it is easy to see why freshwater pearl jewellery has become so popular in modern times.

A Roller Coaster Known Only As Pregnancy

posted on 3 January 2011

When I got pregnant with my first and only child, it was big news. I was so scared I did not know what to do with myself. I was worried that I would be unable to take care of another human being. Each month passed so quickly, and at first I was sick all the time, nauseated by any and everything. I didn't want to wear maternity dresses either - they just reminded me of my pregnant state. Month five came along and I found out the sex of my daughter. I instantly fell in love while watching her little peanut head on the ultrasound screen. It was amazing. My little one turned out to be late. She was due April 28th, but that day came and went. I was scheduled to be induced on May 4th, 2010, but ended up being induced May 4th at around 11am. My daughter didn't come until May 5th at three in the morning via a C-Section. It was nothing that I had expected. So now I tell everyone to expect the unexpected. Even if you suspect you will be having a normal delivery, be aware that anything can change so quickly!

My Snug Boots Still a Requirement in My Area

posted on 2 January 2011

This is going to be a long hard winter I feel. I've got 3 pairs of snug boots when I really want to be wearing my high heels! I love the spring and summer, but concede that the winter cannot be ignored. I have to go to work 6 days a week and it's freezing outside, so on go my snug boots and I feel a lot better. We must reflect the weather through our clothing and I still think you can look stylish in winter - what I don't like are these silly women who think they can wear summer dresses when there's a foot of snow on the ground - yes I'm looking at you, Newcastle ladette! The weather makes you look silly as you walk around with your arms folded all the time - just accept it's cold and wear appropriate clothing - spring will soon be here!

Trip to Tokyo Reveals Interesting Jewellery Fashion

posted on 30 December 2010

I was recently in Tokyo on a business trip, and fancied a trip to Harajuku where you can view all the freaks who dress up in Victorian gear and whatnot. It really is a site! I love how Japan indulge in extreme fashion like this, yet at the same time appear so utterly reserved and conservative when conducting business. I also visited Shinjuku and Shibuya and saw many wonderful jewellery shops there. I bought myself a pink diamond shaped crystal ring there as a souvenir to myself to mark the trip and remind me of my 3 days in Tokyo. I'd love to go back there, but perhaps in the spring time when they celebrate Hanami under the cherry blossoms and the weather is cooler! I visited Japan in August, and the hear was unbearable, particularly in Tokyo where there's no respite apart from your hotel room, and I wanted to walk around the city so it was tough going.
